My Expression

The circle is almost complete. After many years working in pelvic physiotherapy, education and science, a phase of painting has begun, where processing is translated into intuitive abstract artwork.

My vision of art

My experiences with intuitive painting have proven pivotal. After retiring, I sought a new way to fill my time and find a sense of purpose in life. It soon became clear that I harbored many emotions I could not yet name. This style of painting allows those emotions to surface in a positive way. I want to bring a sense of calm to other women as they navigate this aspect of their own experiences.

After a career spanning healthcare, education, and academia, I set out on a journey of self-discovery. My thanks go to Ciara Gilmore who taught me how to translate my feelings and emotions into this form of abstract art.

My activities

Although I no longer treat patients or run a private practice, I still teach—both domestically and abroad—and give lectures upon request. My teaching is aimed at fellow physiotherapists, covering topics such as the role of the pelvic floor in geriatrics, the impact of sexual abuse on physical movement and function, and issues related to prolapse and the coccyx. For the work on coccyx-related issues, I collaborate with coccyx expert Sytske Lohof-Venema; we have conducted training sessions in Brazil, Poland, Germany, and Romania. It remains a deeply inspiring activity. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, exercising, and photography—particularly in the woods—as well as painting. I have worked on oil portraits, though I currently focus primarily on intuitive abstract painting with acrylics on canvas.
